It’s not up to you to meet other people’s expectations

What’s it like sitting here in front of everyone, being a celebrity, and experiencing self-doubt like any other person in this world. How do you deal with so many eyes on you constantly?

“I just imagine everybody in their underwear. Don’t they say that, though? They say if you get nervous, just imagine everybody in their underwear. It doesn’t work for me. I think you reach an age, and I really do think it’s about age, where you just stop getting upset about stuff that doesn’t matter. Right? You become less worried about your image or how people are taking you, and more concerned about things that count, like your truth and what matters to you. And when you’re in your authentic self, and not so worried about how other people are going to take you, you get a lot less nervous and upset about things, right? Because the anxiety comes from with within. It comes from your sense of not being able to meet somebody else’s expectations and that’s not really a fair thing to do to yourself. It’s not up to you to meet other people’s expectations.”
