A state’s legitimacy

A state’s legitimacy rests on the degree to which it protects and defends INDIVIDUAL rights. Not people; There are no such things as collective rights, but individuals. When a state consistently protects the individual rights it can be said to have a right to exist. Since Israel, the United States, and Germany do this to a greater degree than several hundred other states (and especially the quasi states of Gaza and the WB) they can indeed claim a right to exist.
