I support Israel because it is the only free state in the Middle East. And by free state I don’t mean any ideal, I mean what basically exists now as a combination of some controls and some freedoms with a heavy emphasis on individual rights as their primary reason for being. And that would describe Israel to a tee. Its government is based on what I consider to be the pillars of civilization: free speech, free press, freedom of assembly, the right to dissent, anything that we would see in America that we consider to be a legit expression of freedom is in existence in Israel and nowhere else in the Middle East.
