Mark Pellegrino on innovating out of a crisis

In the podcast, Mark said the way out of any crisis is innovation, which happens with decentralisation and an atmosphere of free ideas. Mark explained that people associate capitalism with material gain, consumerism, and consumption as opposed to production, thinking and liberty, which are our keys to success in any crisis.

As an example, Mark said the Renaissance took hold in Italy is because it was composed of independent city-states where ideas could flourish, compete, and fight with each other for prominence and the truth. You can’t have that in any system other than a capitalistic system — and that openness of ideas and freedom to experiment is necessary to work your way out of any crisis.

Mark recommended reading How Innovation Works for more on this very interesting topic.
