Higher costs are created by regulations that create scarcity… those INCLUDE price controls at all levels and stipulations re how food is grown or processed. Prohibitions against new and better technologies and more… then there’s monetary policy. Fiat currency to pay for welfare state schemes robs the market of value and production and takes up more of our gdp while tearing down the purchasing power of the dollar.
