A History of the American People

Almost done with this MASSIVE book and it’s so good I’m going to read his History of the Jews. Judging from this history (honest) some pro Palestinian eggheads might want to give it a spin too.

(Although I do disagree with his assessment of Truman and the advent of the Cold War and the sacking of MacArthur.)

A deeper appreciation for Harding and Coolidge (whom I already had some respect for.. but it’s nice to see it reflected in a history book for once) re both men he debunked a ton of myths about them and artfully ripped down FDR’s legacy… deserved. He makes a fairly good analysis of the causes of the depression, but goes south in his conceptualization of the cold war’s origins and in Truman’s handling of Russia and communist containment. Well, I think his assessment of what Russia was doing was sound…. But his evaluation of Truman as dealing with Russia from principles…. Was a miss
