The Declaration of Independence took natural rights theory and expanded it further and created the template against which all governments measure their legitimacy (most falsely). Ours was a revolution of ideas and the men who led it were renaissance men with probably the greatest depth of understanding respecting the history of political systems in earth. There is NO better set of governing principles in history. And unless we expand on them, there won’t be.”
