It surprised Mark how Virgil changed from being a small time criminal and the village lothario. We get to see some background, and there’s a scene where a younger Billy interrupts Virgil that was really difficult for Mark, but what he does for Billy in season two is intense. There’s an edge to Virgil, a capacity for violence on a different level than you’d think.
